Well just noticed this forum and decided i would post some info about my project car...and thus far am lovin the forum :D

Engine: Lets begin, i started with a 1994 Ford Mustang GT...stock, right now as it stands it has 3.73s, smog pump eliminator, underdrive pulleys, and exhaust, nothing else really.
But thas all about to change. I just ordered my new motor yesterday, a new 302 w/ some slight modification :) a full custom built 65mm turbo kit with FMI, 42 lb or 60 lb injectors, 80mm MAF, 75MM TB, Ported Intake Manifold, Special Heads that i have custom done by the Padre lol, all forged SCAT internals with 20.1cc forged pistons and I beam rods, 9.5mm wires, new distributor, .512 lift cam, HD valve springs good for .600 lift, battery relocation kit, bigger strut tower brace, and i think thats about it for the engine for now maybe new crank or bigger turbo in the spring time.

Exterior plans: Now, Cobra 17's with 275/40/17 on the back soon to be bigger, lakewood drag shocks and steeda springs 2" drop, hotchkis control arms, subframe connectors, sway bars.

Interior: A little bit of weight reduction but nothing to serious

I'll post some pics once i get home where all the parts are this weekend

Here is the block it will be here december 1st :) the build will start the 7th as soon as iget home from school...cant wait ill take some picks of the turbo, heads, headers, etc when i get home on thanksgiving but here is the block...all forged internals with 20.1cc dish pistons

BlazinAzian
11-12-2009, 06:57 PM
Whats a ballpark price for this build?

theboostedsnail
11-13-2009, 05:52 PM
well i got extremely lucky on the turbo kit part, but ballpark you are lookin at 2,000-2,500 for the block, a grand for the heads, 3k-4k for the turbo, and maybe another 1,500 for all the stuff like cam, accesory drives, exhaust, head bolts, etc, plus wutever labor would be...which for me is free :), so roughly around 10k build, but mine is way cheaper seein as how i basically stole the turbo kit lol and the heads :)

yea my dad who has built everything from grand nationals and supras, which he owned, to nine sec drag cars and a 7 sec truck, projects this on low boost to be near about imposible to keep out of the 10's on drag radials :) so it will be a monster :heh:

SteamHammer
11-17-2009, 06:07 PM
you don't have to be an Nissan or import fan to know what an inline six is. there are lots of variables on types of engines, but i'll just stick with whats being discussed lol. ok, a V6, V8, V10, etc. are named V because that's the shape of the block if you're looking at it from the front. 3 cylinders on one side and 3 on the other, or 4, 5, etc. an inline engine's cylinders are one right behind the other, "inline". there are many different variants of the inline engines as well...inline 4, 5, 6, etc. inline 6's were used as a base engine for lots of classic muscle cars and trucks. the Chevy Colorado has an inline 5. inline 6's are also used in today's best diesel engines including what's in big rigs. another example is BMW M3's, until recently were also using inline 6's...their current best is a twin-turbo inline 6 that boasts 300hp stock. just to name a few :D. and as far as exhaust notes go, i'll take an inline 6's sound over a V8's any day :p. sorry, that was a long post, damn.

Discontained
11-17-2009, 06:59 PM
screw your inline6 exhaust notes.. v12 please :)

however, the inline6's with ITB's and straight cut gears = WIN!

SteamHammer
11-17-2009, 09:09 PM
bah, V12's don't have enough grunt behind the sound. maybe with a good exhaust, but i'd have to hear it to say it was better than an inline 6'er :ear:.

theboostedsnail
11-18-2009, 11:13 AM
i kno wut an inline 6 is like the one in a skyline, the old mustangs had inline sixs i just was not aware the rbs were inline 6 i thought it was a 4 cylinder to be honest

rb motors are between a 2.0 and a 2.6L motor inline six. supras have a larger displacement inline 6 with a 3.0L i believe, but the rb shits on it all day long lol until the water pump fails.

I was refering to the rb25det. It sounded like you called it a four cyl which i found humorous b/c it is one of the best known engines in the import scene. I was just saying it was an inline six. But if you were talking about the sr20 then yes it is a four banger. Needless to say, they still don't sound like a v8.

ha yea i was thinkin 4 sylinder and shows my extensive knowledge of the tuner world lol and ben you wish a sentra could sound like that :) and anyone who has functioning eardrums prefers v8 over v6 of inline...granted the supra sounds sick as hell...and you are sick in the head if you honestly think that motor shits in a supra motor lol the amount of supra motors pushin more hp than the rb25 is astromonical but owners choice...but with the whole tuner scene thing the end of my signature should explain it all im a muscle car guy/ domestics...but still respect the import and tuner scene

i love all types of cars, from lifted trucks, bikes, imports, euros, classic muscle to modern muscle. i'm easy to get along with so long as it's done right and clean, not half-ass'd and over-done. i hate to see a car that has spent $20K on the exterior and system and has 150 HP! rather see a basically stock car with wheels, a drop and lays down 500whp.

I agree i love all types of vehicles. I love individual style and home brewed projects. Motor size doesn't really matter to me but theres just something amazing about a 4 cylinder making 1000+ hp and running 6's. I like supras too but i would get a rb over it anyday. Old supra joke: what does a 600hp, 700hp, and 800hp supra have in common? 11 sec time slips . But like stated above everyone has their preference. An by the way i love the way v8 sound built.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOOlOLeCOww&feature=related

lots of people build engines for numbers, but lots more use the engines they build for more than the dyno. the 1JZ and 2JZ are fantastic engines, tho Supras are pigs. when drag racing, it's more than HP numbers, it's shifting, gearing, traction, weight and driver as well.

After you get it all back together who is going to do the tuning? You going to need some dyno time to get that beast running as it should.

Mine is daily driven, so for right now it in finished. Until I find some kind of DD, the stang will stay mild as can be. Maybe one day and 302ci stroker built for low compression to run a saleen supercharger. Family first though, my 1 yr old gets whatever she wants before I get my share of the $$$!

^ I feel ya, when I turbo'd my dd celica, I was a pain to drive. Not only that I always had to get it in the shop cause something broke or general repair. I was constantly trying to borrow a car. I don't regret doing it but I def agree with finding an alternate ride before hand. That's why I 'm keeping the civic mild right now and bought the CRX for fun.
