well, around 4am this morning i was awoken by a loud ass crash. i stepped out of the bedroom to see wtf was going on....only to see my kitchen ceiling on the floor. walked outside to see my neighbors' tree had fallen onto my house . it destroyed the kitchen, damaged a couple of appliances and cabinets, damaged a spare room and crushed my back porch! along with the mess it made in the yard. had a contractor come out and his exact words were "We're going to be friends a looooooong time!" meaning that repairs will be weeks in the making. a claims adjuster has not been yet, but the contractor said repairs will be in the 10's of thousands of dollars! tree service is on the way now to clean up the mess so the adjuster can access the damage.

also to make things worse, a small ( 1ft ) branch bounced off the roof during the fall and hit the top of the Tiburon right in front of the sunroof causing sufficient damage! luckily, the top is white and it's not too bad to look at ( just in my eyes it's horrible ). so i will have to pay the house insurance and car insurance deductibles! sometimes life can be harsh.

negative. the only way he would be held responsible is if the tree was dead and i had filed a complaint or concern with the city about the tree. the tree was dead, but i never filed anything, so it's on me. contractor told me i could file suit to get the deductibles, but i'm not going to. i have to live next to these guys, besides we have the money in an emergency fund just for this type of thing.

oh no, they were at fault. tree has been dead since we moved here 4 years ago. with all the directions that tree could've gone i didn't think it would hit my house...just my luck.

it's awful. it destroyed the roof and walls of 1/4 of my house and my back porch. and to add insult to injury, we were just informed by our insurance company the deductible for this claim is $1000! car is $200. i also found that my hood is dented as well. my day just keeps getting better. not to mention i'm going to have to deal with a house being rebuilt for months.

Dude that sucks. Thank goodness for insurance. Better to pay the deductible than the whole thing. Well at least in the winter time you don't have to worry about bugs coming in.

unfortunately i can't. insurance is not just cutting me a check. they gave me a list of body shops they deal with directly. so unless i pay extra, it will just be fixed. but unless it leaks, i may not be fixing it right away. we only have $1000 in our emergency fund and that goes towards the house. maybe in January.

tree service came out and disposed of the tree. and to add to the worst day ever, when the fucking tree service crane truck backed out of my driveway...it caved in! now i have a 3ft hole in the middle of my driveway. it was washed out under the concrete and it couldn't support the weight of the truck. if it were my property, i would've been fine because insurance would cover it....but it was past the fence line ( city property ). so now while all this other shit is going on, i will have to fight the city to fix the driveway so we can use it. right now we are parking on the street.

well, it's off to work this morning. i'm pasted being pissed and am just accepting it as life :D. as the old phrases go ( hmm, lets see what applies )..."shit happens", "can't win for losing" and "just my luck". and i just know it's going to rain Saturday and screw up the track meet. i need some liquor!

I hope things turn around for you. The driveway thing happened to my grandmother when she was getting a tree picked up. I figure the guys with the trucks would have to pay. Luckly hers was covered by insurace. It's so crazy about whos liable in all the situations. too many loop holes.

damn man, sorry to hear about the series of bad events, i will say look to the future, you'll have a 1/4 of a new house, plus if you were planning on redecorating, you'll now be forced to do so.

Sorry to hear about the troubles...bad things happen in 3s is what I heard. So you should be clear since the house, car, and driveway.
