2010 Spring Track Day April 17-18

Got this off of the Muscle Car Evolution forums:

Talked with Ed yesterday and this is what he has to offer us for our 2 day event. It will be April 17th and 18th but here's the catch. The 17th is the Jerry Barker Bracket racing series event. The gates open at 1 and there is practice until 3 and then qualifying until 5. The event runs into the night so that will be fun. People who want to watch the event and camp will pay $10 on Sat. but those who come late will get in and get to camp for free. On Sunday we will sell tech cards and everybody will have to reenter the track. I'm thinking i'm going to run the Pro ET bracket racing that day because there is really good payouts for it.

I am very excited about this event. Even though I am not a good driver, I will probably enter the bracket racing event on that Saturday. There will be no club wars this year, but this is an event that anyone and everyone can have a lot of fun at. If there is enough interest I will look into getting some awards for certain achievements (fastest 4 cylinder, club participation, etc.).

And if you want to help spread the word in Columbus, let me and Mike know. I do the best I can but I go to school 3 hours away from town. We can make some fliers, stickers, etc. to pass out and get the word out.

What's your best so far? I remember last year you would drive that Tiburon like you stole it on the track.

14.7 is my best with awful 60fts. oh, i still will. the Tiburon is a blast :D!

That's a good time. A Better 60 ft. can easily shave a couple tenths off.

And just to make sure everyone knows, my goal is to be around 14.2. Anything below that and I will probably shat myself in happiness. Last year the mostly stock sr20 240sx ran like 14.1 with terrible starts, so being around that will be a huge success for me. I'm not a very good driver, so it will definitely take some practice.

exactly, i should be able to get mid-low 14's no problem. THE problem is that i don't want to beat-up on my car that much and make 100 passes. i will not be hot-lapping! i'll just have to see how it goes.

it should be cake to get a 14.2 with good tires...take some slicks or drag radials with you :D. so how much power was that turbo set-up supposed to make? 200+/-?

210ish, with matching torque. Tires won't be the biggest problem, it will be making sure now to blow my differential. The stock diffs are very weak in my car, so no launching. LSD will come soon enough though.

I don't have a 240 anymore. My Escort is getting boosted. That's why I'm in the FWD 4-cylinder class.

As for the 240 (down_south240's), that thing better be mid 12's and better after some practice. But I doubt it will make it to the track.

I'm in the same boat as taxiv with getting everything in and broke in by then. Plus I'll have to see if I can get one of those days off from work because I'll either have to work Saturday or Sunday. But I would love to make it down there and see if all of this money and work will pay off.

I don't remember the exact number but I know it's less that 2000 lbs, I wanna say around 1800. Its crazy light.

I'll be happy to hit low 15's but i think 15.5 is the best i can do with the mods i have now.

Me and Mike talked about this last night. I think the plan is to have everyone go Sunday morning and just do the all day test and tune. We can meet at the Chevron near the DMV or the Taco Station. My car won't be boosted either, but I should still have something to take.

Um, i ran in a 12 second car with neither of us having a helmet. Reynolds is not Commerce, thank God.

Track usually opens at noon so 10:30ish is a good ballpark.

i would go May 2, but i would not race. anyone that has ever been to a busy track day knows you don't get your money's worth because you sit in the staging lanes most of the time. i'm not one for hot-lapping, but i want to take it down the track more than twice for $25+. Import Showdown is a good event to watch unless you have a fast car to race with. just a little info if you're thinking about racing. not to talk anyone out of it, i still say we go the 2nd. i'm down, but i will be going this Sunday to race. the 2nd will just be to watch.

it was a good day. a little guiness, a little socializing, a little racing and a lot of eye candy! unfortunately i could not better my old time and ran a best of 14.8 :( . there were 2 bad ass DSM's. a red 900hp 9 sec AWD and a blue 11 sec AWD. there as a 10 sec ( 512whp on 93!! ) Integra and a 12 sec Integra, both boosted of course. a 9 sec fox body and a 6 sec 1/8th miler S10 ( 10.5 sec coasting 1/4!! ). Mustangs, Camaro's, Silverado's, a couple Lightnings and a few Vettes were the majority ( due to the event ). i will say the average times of the rest that were there was 12.5 - 13.5's. besides a couple of stragglers that couldn't break their V8's under the 14.5 mark :D . i'm beat...time to lay down.

The guy with the grey FD ran like 11.6, the rest I didn't really notice. The cars we met up with were probably half rice. Me, Scott, and Zach were the only non Honda/Acuras in the line. There was a ballin eg'ish hatch that never hit the track, but it was fun to ride next to the way there.

89 is a Mk2 I believe and they are great cars. the 16v 2.0 is a pretty nice motor to work with a lot of people use it in swaps. You should get one tho.
