Holly Rollerz, that was the name of a roller derby team in that movie Whip It. I don't think they were a Christian team though, they had little Catholic schoolgirl outfits...lol
Hey guys, I'm the local Co-President of the Columbus, Ga chapter of the Holy Rollerz. Thought you guys might like to see this...

not many classes, should make for more competition.
I know, but if it's a success there will be more classes next year. The church is providing most of the funds for this "trial run." If it brings in enough people and money (enough money to at least make it break even) then we will be allowed a bigger budget next May when we do it again.

I think this is a cool outreach for a church to do. everyone's so use to dinners and bake sales. Props to your church for thinkin outside the box.
Went to a church event last weekend. Top 30 and had about 75 vehicles show. This was in Smith Station @ Mt. Zion. It was a nice show, didn't care for all the potten, seemed like I have to dust the car down ever second...until I finally gave up. Came home with an award regardless.
Thanks. Yeah I was talkin to the lady back in October who handles all the event planning and she was telling me they've always wanted to do this. Thank God for HRC3... a christian car club putting on a christian car show at a church... it's an epic win IMO.

Dang...I think SoWo is the same weekend...
Okay guys. We're opening up for vendors and sponsors. It's a little late in the game, but there was a misccomunication on the money used for the trophies. All of our trophies are in, but here's what we're asking for...
Vendors: $50 for booth and $100 for booth and 4 meal tickets
Sponsors: $250 for Silver Level and $500 for Gold Level and any donation of at least $75 will get their name on the t-shirt
Silver Level gets their name on the show t-shirts, an 8 1/2 X 6 ad in the program, 1 promotional item in the registration packets for both competitors and spectators, a booth at the show, and an opportunity to have their company endorsed by the emcee during the show.
Gold Level gets their name on the show t-shirts, an 8 1/2 X 11 ad in the program, 2 promotional items in the registration packets for both competitors and spectators, a booth at the show with ample display space, and an opportunity to have someone from their company get on stage during the show for 20 sec to advertise.
Let me know if you have or know someone who would be interested in this. dean@holyrollerz.org

That's the thread right there man. I assume it's still going on, pretty long read if you got nothing better to do today.
Hey guys just reminding everyone about our show on Saturday. I figure if we can get at least 50 cars registered at this then the church will let us put it on. We have 23 trophies to give away and 3 of those trophies are unique to the Columbus area. Please guys help us out with this. We are wanting to get this thing off the ground and make it the biggest car show in Columbus, but we need support for this first year to get it off the ground. I don't mean to beg, but myself and Dr. Boom have been by ourselves planning this event and have had no time to get sponsors for it, so all of the money that comes to this show will cover the upfront expenses, and we need to make more than that for our charity. We're doing this as an outreach with North Highland for the first time, and last time if the numbers aren't there. So hopefully we can get you guys to show up and give this a chance. FYI our top trophy stands about 2 1/2 - 3 ft tall

I went out to the show today around 2-3ish. it was ok. I was hoping for a better turn out considering the hype typed out here, but it was ok. myabe it will thrive better after I left, I just couldnt stay out there for 6 hrs with a my son baking in the sun.
I want to thank everyone who showed up to this. I know the class structure was an issue for many and I do apologize for that. We will host again next year, but we learned a lot from this year's show and I assure you those mistakes will not be repeated. Trust me when I say we learned A LOT! I encourage all who attended to post up any comments or suggestions you may have so that next year's show will hit with a bang. We did no mainstream advertising, only "word-of-mouthed" it for 2 months and still managed to bring in 41 cars for show and sound off and 5 others for just sound off. Praise God for the numbers without the advertising. Some of the changes for next years show will be the following right off the bat:
1)SHORTER SHOW TIME lol
2)Broader Class structure (classics, classic muscle, muscle, etc.)
3)Fewer placements in classes (1st and 2nd place. No 3rd place)
4)Acquisition of Vendors and Sponsors
5)Door prizes
6)Music to play throughout the show, as well as other entertainment
As stated before, if anyone has any other suggestions for next year's show, please post the comments here or text/call me at 706.358.6589. I am WELL open to advice. That's where I screwed up is not seeking advice and counsel with people who have done this before. I will not be making it up as I go along again. lol

Yeah, see I didn't realize that SoWo was the same weekend. BTW... what does SoWo stand for? (i'm a newb I know). Any suggestions on a good date for next year?

Southern Wörthersee :)
A small turnout is alot better than no turnout. 99% of shows start out with low numbers and turn into HUGE events, hell when I went to SoWo 2 years ago wasnt as big as it was this year. Next year it will be bigger. However Southern Wörthersee is a specific targeted group, so its a bigger turnout due to loyalty and word of mouth and lots of advertising. Plus its a 3 day event.
Just plan it bigger and better next year, do something that is sure to draw peoples attention. Lead the way, do not follow.

I feel like the ideal date will not be in May, mainly because schools and colleges are finishing up. A lot of people I talked to about Import Showdown didn't go because they had finals, and I missed your show because I was invited on a trip to Florida to relax for a few days (couldn't pass up a free trip). I feel like June is a good month as long as people don't forget about it.
Like Mike said, 41 cars is not bad for a new show. With some good advertising and some promotion next year, that number could easily double. I wish we could have helped more as a forum, but this is new to me as well.

I sent out the message to everyone and no one showed up but little papers with the info on it would go a long way.
Not so long of a show would help some too. I saw that like 2 of you were tallying up the scores get the others to help out.
Music playing the whole time would be nice too.
I dunno if you came to the one we threw last yeat but IMO that was the best show I have been to in Columbus in the last few years. We had a dj, silent auction, NOS energy drinks, some vendors, and had like 120 or more cars I think and that was our first show that a few of us had put on.
Do you think you could get me in touch with the peeps for the NOS energy drinks?

made my comments in the chat, nothing negative but like I said I would have shown up if I had heard about it...Ill try and make it to the next one
I always thought it would be helpful to try and contact at least the Prez from every car club around town. If you get them on your side then you are almost guaranteed a good show. I know there is some kind of wall between the classics and imports but if you want to have the "biggest show Columbus has ever seen" you got to get them together. Sorry to say but the majority of people are going to come and see the classics before anything else. Also to help get the word out you gotta go to every show you can before yours and pass out flyers. I was @ the Hardaway Show with Chuck and he didn't have enough on hand but believe if he had could have gotten a lot more cars to show. Good Luck next year...
Thanks for the advice Kevo. It definitely won't go unnoticed

It wasn't bad at all, especially for a church show. We had a total of 46 people register and compete. I learned a lot of lessons for next year's show. I think I'll probably end up having it at Cook's next year though. The lady at the church I have to deal with hasn't responded to any of my emails as of yet about a date for next year. Not to mention how I was treated throughout the planning process. I know we'll have a different sound guy run our Sound Off next year.

Do not do it at cooks. That place is so out played for car shows. Ccs has there there along with all the lowline events. Find a new venue.
