Interesting but highly unlikely move by georgia congress, but would be pretty cool IMO

Seems pretty restricted, but I would be all for it. I hope it gets passed. Then we could reenact F&F WOOT!

Senate clears way for local street races in Ga.

Ga.ATLANTA (AP) - Senators have cleared the lane for local street races, touted as an economic development initiative for cash-strapped Georgia.

Senate Bill 345, sponsored by Sen. Jim Butterworth, passed 41-9 on Tuesday. Under the proposal, racing on highways or streets would be allowed when the race is sanctioned by the county or municipality and the road is closed to other traffic during the race.

Emergency medical personnel would also have to be present at events and the race would have to be publicized 30 days prior to the event.

The Cornelia Republican says such races could be a big tourism draw for Georgia. Critics derided the proposal as a public safety issue.

Well; just cause it passed, doesn't mean Columbus will allow it or even set it up (when the race is sanctioned by the county or municipality and the road is closed to other traffic during the race.). I think its a great idea but i just don't see it happening. Gonna just do it the old skhool way.

Lol, I got followed in Harris County one day for about 15 minutes after he whipped around and started following me. Then he pulled me over after the 15mins and said "Oh um, your license plate sticker is expired...a like $500 something ticket." Luckily it was in my glove box but he made me get out to put it on and made me 25mins late for my appt in Columbus...dammit

I still think its stupid, there's always potholes, gravel/sand, animal life (deer, cat, dog etc). Someone could loose control and smash into a building causing damage to city property and costing more money. I rather keep it on the track. This is up there on the list of stupidest things I have ever seen/heard.
