Well i have started to do a few things to the 240sx that i picked up a few months ago. Nothing major yet, still deciding on what motor i will be putting in. People had me leaning toward sr20 and rb swaps but i not that rich and i thought long and hard about a ka turbo. Just wanted to do something different and to me it is cheaper if you know what your doing. Then i sat back one day and thought long and hard about my purpose for the car. It will be a street/track car but i didn't want 300hp. I figured you live once so go balls out. So im set to build a 500hp plus monster. So im down to 2 motors that i gotta choose from but imma keep it a secret for now, kinda want it to be a surprise. This motor will be boosted and slightly built. So stay tune for more updates.

S13 or 14? I'm guessing an LS1, RB26DETT, or 2JZ. Any of those are way more than capable of 500 plus hp.

I know another motor that could get close to 500hp (with the boost turned up), if some loser would finally finish it.

What motor is that? I'm just hoping for close to 400. And it's almost done.

That would be insane. I personally am not a fan of domestic engines in import cars, or the other way around. But at the same time I can't argue with that much more torque in that small of a car, or the availability of parts.

It is a s13 and it may be a single turbo setup if I can make it fit. Twins would be nice but I wanna go for single. I'm not a fan of domestic motors either but u gotta give props to the power they make on 10 psi where as it would take half the cylinders 20 psi or more sometime. Don't get me wrong tho cuz I love a 40 psi 4 cyclinder. I like anything that can be modded different from traditional paths. I wanna wait till I get it to tell everyone because I don't wanna get my hopes up and id rather have pics and be able to show you rather than talk bout wat I don't have. One guy already flaked on the motor so I'm saving a lil more. Don't really have to search for it cuz they are everywhere, not hard at all to get one from a junkyard.

500 could easily be achieved with the uber affordable 1JZ with minimal mods...but you would never find one in a junkyard here lol. if it's not a KA-T....hmmmm. hint please - how many cylinders does it have?

Your car better be 500hp capable. I understand the current turbo will crap out before that.
How close is almost? please post Here (http://www.aepautomotive.com/forums/showthread.php?185-My-Never-Ending-Project/page2)

Please answer this . I am really curious now because I don't know what you're going to find in a junkyard around here.

The motors I was choosing between where the 300zx twin turbo motor or na motor but they need some internal work to handle the amount of hp I want and the twin turbo motor is expensive for my kind of money. So I decided on the q45 v8 motor. The block is reinforced and can handle 600 on stock internals after the rings have been changed. I have found plenty for under 500 just saving money for it. But its not a direct fit. Little custom work but its very rare so imma try it. Its gonna be paired with a 300zx transmission and either a q45 rear end or a twin turbo 300zx rear end which is about the size or bigger than a dana 9 inch I believe.

Also I found a place that will make me a custom aluminum driveshaft for 250 give or take. I want the q45 rear end cuz the final drive is a 3.69. I want longer gears because this thing will be a torque monster and I would rather use that power than waste it. The motor has good breathing heads and has a red line of about 7000 I believe so I think this will be a fun project. Youtube the motor a few 240 and 300zx have the na version in them and they sound great. So I think I will be one of the few with a single turbo on it if I can make it fit.

I was going to guess the q45, but you never gave the hint. A guy at E-E was doing that back when down_south's first SR was being installed. Sounds like fun.

haha, that was one of my choices i had for the E30 back in my indecisive days. and you're right, those engines are a-dime-a-dozen in the junk yards! i chose not to do it because those motors are HUGE! DOHC V8's don't like tight engine bays :D. what year q45 are you looking at pulling it from?

Looking to pull from a 91 to 94. I think a 90 would work also. I read that i want the one after the 90 because pre 90s they had a plastic tensioner that would break and jump timing. Well when i look at all the youtube vidoes and read forums it looks to fit better than the 300zx motor. Its gonna be a fun project and i can't wait to finish it. O yea that motor is huge and i think imma have the problem you had at first by trying to squeeze a single huge turbo in the engine bay. With the vg30de the 240 power to weight ratio is better than the 300zx and with the vh45 its not 50/50 but not that far off either, so it's not gonna add a ton of weight to the car to were its unfun to drive. Plus im really considering a water to air intercooler setup also and the tank in the back that might help even the weight out.

Interesting choice, can't wait to see it come prowling thru the complex...if I 'm still living here by then. lol

how much boost were you planning on running? when i was researching the engine a while back ago, i found it had high compression...i can't remember exactly what it was, but it was definitely meant to make N/A power out of the box - not forced induction. i'm sure you could force some air in there as is, but were you planning on building the motor?

Yea i don't think imma be there after my lease is up. The front office and getting on my nerves and i wanna get a house by the end of this year. But i chose the engine to be different from the traditional 240 swaps

Don't plan on building at the moment. The only thing i do plan on doing is all gaskets and new piston rings. Just kinda wanna see what i can make on it with the stock compression, but probably around 10 pounds.

Yeah, i'm looking for a house too. Looked at most in our price range but they all sucked. waiting for more to come on the market.
