So I may as well start one of these. I will be ordering stuff soon, more than likely after christmas and as soon as I figure out my housing situation at the new campus BUT ANYWHOOOO..

The target HP goal is 450hp/400awhp area. RELIABLE HP.

I will start off with the engine stuff. Not sure if I want to stroke it to a 2.0+ or keep 1.8. The AEB engine is by far one of the better beasts that Audi has engineered arguably the best 1.8T ever made. With the free flowing head and strong bottom end (20mm wristpin) with forged internals. In 2000 this free flowing head was replaced with a small port head but kept the strong bottom end until it was replaced in 2001 by the weaker bottom end. Which is what I had on the other A4 the 2001.5 had the crap AWM that was limited to a bunch of bs. blah blah blah

will be cleaning up my engine bay today as I await for parts to start rolling in so I can put it back together..

Things ill be doing today:

-Polish intake manifold, take to machine shop to get the intake ported to match the head
-clean engine and bay
-get the old turbo off, gotta cut it off the downpipe since the bolts are seized
-clean the block and remove the oil cooler adapter plate, and install the new one, new filter, new oil pickup
-trim bumper support to accept the new Larger intercooler, as I have 2 intercoolers now, 5 x 35 x 20 is the big one, and 3 x 21 x 10 is the smaller one, I just have to see which one fits in there.

Timing belt wont be done as it was done a few months ago.

Anyone is welcome to drop by and hang out.. (bring beer!)

So here is where im at now:
-New injectors are in
-Injectors seats are in
-New manifolds (intake) is on
-New oil cooler is on
-removed turbo
-new head is on

ran into a problem. Since my turbo setups in the past have been water cooled, the water does the cooling, and the oil does the lubrication. Since im going with a T04e turbo which is oil cooled/lubrication, the coolant line from the k03 needs to be rerouted and im stuck there haha. Hopefully the 'zine will help me out.

I ordered my manifold today, so hopefully that will get here this coming up week then I can have some fun!

oil lubrication is so 2001. nowadays if you dont lube your turboz with land o lakes butter churned by stripperz you aint ballin.

So the order didnt ship yesterday :[ which means it will ship monday and I hopefully will have it by next weekend. Going a whole weekend - week without a car is going to suck! haha, I took the new head back off, and put the old one on for now. I want to get a base tune with the old one. Then ill swap heads and retune.

Well a few people on the Zine said Top Speed doesnt do audi So i gotta give em a ring on monday and see what they can do, if not then its on to plan bravo. I am trying to source down a used Unitronic BT Tuned ECU. Also With my setup 475cc injectors arent going to cut it, so im going to try and trade them for some bigger ones 630cc should be good.

Figured out my coolant reroute issues, already ordered some stainless braided hoses for them. So im currently on hold for further progress, I cant do much until the manifold arrives and I can mock up some oil lines, and intercooling piping. Dump tube needs to be made as well. HURRAY UP MANIFOLD!

About plan bravo, you might want to reconsider Topspeed. They "fixed" Craig's MX-6 a little while back, but instead of installing the turbo kit someone stole it. The entire situation was shady, not to mention Scott Seigel left to go to Forged.

Shit i know right? Just waiting on the turbo manifold then I can get to putting everything together.

Still have to make a oil supply/return line, turbo brace, and waste gate location. Once i get that finished I can put everything back together and go to the exhaust shop and get my 3inch pipes put on. Then I will need a tune badly, will only be running 2-4 psi until i get it tuned.

So the software issue is in between Unitronics, and Eurodyne. However I am leaning towards eurodyne simply cuz its cheaper and comes with software!

Eurodyne has Maestro 7 Tuning Suite $889 compared to $995 for Unitronics... software is expensive :[ ..

Ok so my manifold hasnt shipped, they sent me a email saying they had a problem tracking my order and all that. I ended up canceling my order and getting a different manifold. Called up Rawtek Performance and theyre sending me a custom tubular polished manifold. Promised me it would be shipped today 3 day select air! Woot so that means ill have it thurs-friday! Hopefully be running 100% by this weekend!

Update 8/18:

Manifold shipped today(tuesday 8/17). Got the Fed-Ex tracking # !! woot.

Picked up a Oil flow reducer so i dont blow out the oil seals in the turbo. I sent my compressor housing on the turbo to a friend for a polish it up. I also removed the oil drain/pickup lines and need to go get some made up for the t04e supply/return. I also took some time to clean up the bay a bit and do some wire tucking of accessories that I wont be using. I got some software to give me a base tune to get the car to be able to run with the new products however I cant connect to my ECM. Since im thinking my ABS module is faulty I pulled that off and waiting on a 'zine member to get back with me on repairing it. So until i get that fixed i cant flash/ tune the car >: [ .

Next on the list while I waiting for the manifold is to get my pass side wheel well/liner covered up. I have to remove most of it and make a heat sheild so i dont spray water all over my turbo if i drive in the rain. I also need to source down a BOV, and a turbo brace. Going to holler at my friend to see if I can borrow his welder again.

WOOT my turbo compressor housing shall be here this morning. Apparently my manifold shipped on the 17th, but since its coming from canaidia ;) it hit teh USA yesterday and is in route today. Its hanging out in OH! haha, est delivery is tomorrow by end of day. SOOOOOOO im going to be pulling a all nighter trying to get the car running and back together. Here is my todo list! GOSH it feels like the night before Christmas when I was like 8 yrs old hahaah

Have you thought about trying that new SHADOW paint from Dupont I believe? You spray it on the chrome and supposed to get like a black chrome look. I believe it would look hella good on your car if the products works like it is supposed to. I know Zach and I have chatted about trying it out on some stuff to see what happens. Still waiting on him to spray his muffler!

I still need my wastegate to come, I dont have a tracking # for it so I dunno when its gonna be here. I gotta get a oil flange for the ddrain on the turbo to the pan. Need my wastegate to hookup.

The downpipe is backwards :( so if i mount it it goes straight up out of the hood, so i gotta get that fixed lol. or maybe i should just cut a hole in my hood hahahaahaha win!

Whatelse do i need i think thats it, I was in the process of putting the bumper support back on but it raining so i burned some pizza nd drank some more. Now im out of beer.

Ok so I just ordered oil supply lines, oil drain lines, flange for the turbo drain return watever you want to call it. Wastegate hasnt showed up yet >:[ oh wells. I got most of the car put back together and my intercooler rigged for now until i can mount it up right, trim some of the core support out and trim the intercooler piping down. to fit.

I gotta figure out how to get the car to the exhaust shop to get my exhaust put on. Hmmm dump right off turbo for a few miles might be the looks of it.

only other thing i need is a tune and i should be rockn and rolln LOL

Went ahead and ordered the t4 return lines and flange. Just gotta get some measurements and go to the machine shop tomorrow and see if they can mill me a adapter. I hope so. Then i should be able to atleast start the car. My wastegate should be here this week. I WILL be running by friday if i have to some super ghetto ricer stuff I will! lol.. I miss driving my car :(

Woot, wastegate, and my oil flanges have been sent, should get them tomorrow if everything is smooth. If not thursday for sure. So it looks like I will be out this weekend!!!!

I am more than excited! I still have to go get my downpipe fixed. I dont feel like sending it back to get swapped out and waiting that long so Im just gonna mock up the bends and whatnot in coat hanger and extra intercooler pipe and take it and get it welded up.

It was a FWD DP and i am of course AWD so it wont fit lol.

Finally i need to finish my wheels, and cut my bumper support just a bit more to get my core to fit . Its twice as thick as my previous one :D fuk yo IAT/EGT BEYACHHHH

i got my shit yesterday. and i talked to the dealership about trans. fluid. they said it would be 70 for the amount but then they said that if i just drained it and put the new stuff in then the old fluid would still be in the system and contaminate the new.

Just got back from a drive, call pulls uber hard! Did some mild tuning /tweaks. just running 8psi for now.

I dialed up to 13psi for fun and see what it would do 2nd to 4th, WOW lol so enjoyable. I drove by the taco station and saw another audi, i tried to honk instead i downshifted (thank you tiptronic steering wheel controls haha)

Seems everytime i get in my neighboor hood something malfunctions, was out for a good hour pull home the transmission cooler lines decide to unseat themselves and spray that shit all over my freshly cleaned bay. WOOT :( so i gotta pull that back off and reseat it sometime tomorrow.

Other than that. its running, and strong at that. ..

update: Blew out the pressure fitting on the oil cooler for my transmission. This is the beginning of the same thing as happend last time. Im about to order a aftermarket trans cooler and try that way. Right now i JB weld putty the lines onto the OEM trans cooler, however now it isnt driveable until i get more fluid in the transmission as Matt and I found out yesterday that it doesnt like to go into gear on the parts run LOL.

So when the VW dealer opens back up (tomorrow) i will go get some fluid @ 25$ a liter >:[ and i need 6.5L to fill, damn you AUDI/VW. I hope i didnt eff the tranny again

So i started my 5 hour research into compatible fluid. Found Napa carries the same fluid as VW dealer but for 13.50/quart and they were out of stock, no biggie he said he needed to reorder them anyway and said he put the order in and to check with him tomorrow afternoon. I then found out Royal purple sells ATF! LO AND BEHOLD Audi G-052-025-A2 is replaceable by it! So i am going to Advance and picking up 8 bottles of it, however Im going to buy online since if you buy online and enter LABOR in the promo code then pick up in the store you get 20% off! woot.

Then hopefully my rigged fittings will hold up. There is a meet in auburn every tuesday night at 9 PM the parking deck next to the stadium. So im going to check it out. Anyone else want to come along?

Update; new trans cooler installed (non-oem) 35 bucks from advance. No more transmission leaks.. finnnnaallly

Set up to run 12lbs of boost now, did some tweaks to the ECM and tweaked my fuel map just a hair so it puts a tad but more fuel around 3800-4200 as it was semi leaning out there.

test drive, felt really good, full boost comes in at 4200 rpm, so its pretty nice.

So I pissed my knock sensor off and its pulling timing like a mofo. Got my new ECU in and i lost my usb>obdII cable lolz. So i gotta order a new one. My new wideband o2 sensor should be here today so I get to weld my new bung in and put a spacer on it. However I didnt get a new bung so I gotta go get one.

Thanks to Justin i got some new rubber to thro on the car. Stretch for a bit. Im running 225/45 and i got 215/40's so we will see how they fit.

Well I got my manifold in today, alot of people chimed in after I bought it saying ill have fitment issues. Well they were true. The manifold itself fits perfect however the wastegate location is a bit retarded. It mounts underneath the manifold thus hitting the passenger side motor mount. I have to figure out something. Might just make a 45 degree angle on the flange and have it kick sideways. The manifold looks great!

Yea I finally got everything mounted and ran. Had to remake my intercooling pipes and my oil feed/drain lines. The turbo moved about 5 inches to the front and 4 inches up. It looks more clean. I ordered a 3.5 inch downpipe. it goes from 3.5 to 4inch once it exits the firewall to the underbody. I think 4 inch will be enough :P

Right now i have the ghetto downpipe on and its not the best but it works.. Im fixing my coolant hose that exploded yesterday after a test run. I got some pics but ill put them up in a bit. There iphone pix :\ my digi camera has lost its memory card.

Other than that I gotta get new tires, as the rear passenger side picked up a nail and deflated itself. So hopefully ill pick those tires up from Ruiz :D Hopefully i wont have anymore problems for now. I gotta devote some time to the 240! lol

so I was on my way out of town tuesday and the car was running great. Went and got gas and headed down the road, bout 15 min later the car starts acting funny like my plugs were fouling out. It wouldnt idle for shit. I pulled over and tried to see what was going on and I couldnt figure it out. It almost sounded like it was out of timing, but when I would be on the throttle the car would drive semi-ok just felt like a bunch of lag. I thought A) turbo is dead B) timing jumped C) blew a hole in my block. After 2 days of fumbling around with the engine I found out my Air Pressure / Temp sensor popped out the intake manifold. Seems the screw holding it dissapeared and it jumped out its hole. Well cars running great! Now its time to actually sell the car :(

Yes I know I really dont want to but im just ready to move on to something else. The plan will be to a) part it out and return the car to stock form b) sell it as it.

Im not sure on what to do really the car isnt worth much over 6k anymore. I was hoping to get alteast $6,000 for it. We will see. The car still needs some work to make it 100% (exhaust needs muffler/ its dumped straight under the car) and need a rear bench seat for the back. Also my tire on the rear passenger side got 4 nails in it. So im running on the full spare (stock wheel).

bumpity bump. Was informed that my transmission oil pan was on backorder........... so I deceided to fix the one that took a railroad track to it. Nothing like a love tap from a 8lb hammer and a few welds couldnt fix. Tested it and its water tight and fits perfectly. So i have to hunt down a gasket.. I called VW against what I was feeling and got a price for a trans pan gasket.. $77.18 hahahahaha EL OH FUCKING EL. they are absolutely insane. Autozone has it for 10.99 + tax. Fucking rip offs, I cant wait to get rid of this car.


ANYWAYS. So im going tomorrow well today to get my gasket order on, and pick up some more ATF, since my beloved Royal Purple ATF is all over veterans haha. Im going with Mobil 1 Syntec ATF or whatever they call it. Then Im going to clean it up real nice and put the stock suspension back on and go trade the car. I been asking $4,500 for the car and people want to low ball me.. the highest offer I got was 3200, which is bs. The car has plenty of work and is very very nice to drive but oh well. Trade the car in for something a lot cheaper on the wallet. Im gonna miss it.

As far as the Audi is im keeping it. Finally got all my transmission pan bolts/gasket so thats back on. Now i just gotta hunt down some Royal Purple max atf and fill her back up. Now while I was changing my oil the other day I noticed that my tires were having tread seperation issues so I went ahead and ordered 4 new tires.. 225/40/18 Nexen N5000.. hopefully those will be good and comfortable.

I pick the tires up on friday then ill be able to drive my car!! OMFG i havent drove it in a few weeks now :|

well I went to start my car today and nothing.. battery dead. So I threw it on my charger went to start it and it cranked right up.. Idle'd hard for a few min then it smoothed out. I miss the sound of a straight piped tubrbo'd 1.8 :)

Now im thinking about returning my GoPro hero video camera and getting a set of Integrated Engineering rods for the 06a block.. Im not sure, i really dont want to rip apart my engine and replace the rods and all that. I think im going to leave it until I see about when I file my taxes.

lol well if I get my injectors that I had (630cc) and run the Unitronic ecu and boost about 18lbs ill be right at 300awhp according to one of the guys who has the exact same setup I have. So I got my new tires, now i need a alignment badly. Flushed my transmission fluid and went with Mobil 1 ATF, see how that goes. I can tell its already better then the royal purple plus its cheaper.. haha.. Then I went to start it up this morning and nothing. I guess my Duralast wasnt built to last. So I took it to Advanced and had them test it, they said it was ok but It needed a charge and a cycle. This is like the 3rd time it has gone dead I believe it had a bad cell so I didnt care I bought a new one.. that cost 160 bucks wtf. Shit for like 30 more I could have got a Optima, but optimas dont fit in my battery tray and I would have to modify my tray and 2nd firewall. I just went ahead on and bought this one.

Finally was able to drive it today ahhhhhh felt so good. Went up veterans and onto 185 and dropped the hammer, I cant believe how fast tripple digits came. All is well and the Turbo-Kraut is alive! wooty

As I pulled onto my street i hear the sounds of metal exploding.. I thought my engine blew but it turned out to be my power steering pump blew apart.. lol THANKFULLY i have another one sitting in my garage. So today I shall swap them out. Trying to steer a 3241lbs car sucks without assist.

So I was able to go get my exhaust today .. ABOUT TIME lol. 3 inch turbo back (no cat/muffler) straight piped. Thanks Swain & Sons for a good price & quick work :thumb: I'm trying to hunt some dual tips down but its becoming a pain in the ass. They all are 2.25 Inlets which I need a 3 inch Inlet now.. looks like my only option is to custom fab one up. Gotta talk to some Audi folks and see if they got any places/ideas/know pplz

Grow up dude, German engineering is far more advanced than the american market. FWIW Audi beat most of its competition in class comparison, plenty of LE MANS wins including 6 consecutive wins. So yea Im going on friday afternoon after my class to get it tinted somewhere, 20% front/back 80% windsheild.. ftw

Well I have been contemplating getting a new paintjob to refresh it. 10 year old paint still looks amazing but its has had some better days in its youth. So I have been pondering on what I should do.

My choices are A) Have it repainted to factory specs, I am sure it would cost 3k+ to get the quality of the OEM paint & finish. B) Black matte finish, now I have two options here, vinyl or paint. Not to sure on which one if I do go with this option.

Now with choice B, i would have my wheels powder coated in 2 stages. Center spokes in black, and the lip/rim in a goldish bronze. Not shiny finish more of a matte opposed to a flat finish.

Update-ish; I was cruising down veterans parkway got a misfire on the car so I do what I usually do to clear it is Boost the piss out of the car. I got a huge boost spike to 18psi lol I almost shat my pants when all the sudden it felt like I hit a wall. Boost cut out and the turbo sounded like it was being raped by a dentist. I was meeting my girl at country's bbq so I limped there and popped my hood to find out my turbo was spinning at idle like it usually does. So I went home and tinkered with it. Pulled the turbo off and checked the shaft and fins, everything looked ok. So I put it back in, swapped out my oil feed line and it started spooling. It builds boost but its hella slow like my wastegate is stuck open or I got a small hole in one of my charge pipes. Not sure yet. I can hit 12psi and hold it but when I come out of boost I get no BOV, or flutter.

So I gotta rip off my front end and inspect my pipes and intercooler, I am thinking I got a hole in the rubber hose from the turbo to the charge pipe, or in one of the couplers. A simple boost leak test should pinpoint the problem. If not then looks like ill be getting a new turbo. If it is a turbo then the plan will be t67 turbo, t4 exhaust with vband, .81ar, wiseco pistons, and IE forged rods. Will be doing the bottom end for sure. Then boost time! (prays turbo = dead )

Got some bad news. I dropped in my injectors and uploaded my new file, cut the boost up to 18psi that puts me around 340hp.. was running fine saturday and went for a drive today got boost happy on airport thruway on that stretch car pulled hard and was gettin it then as im slowing down I start smelling transmission fluid and i glance in my rear view.. yep white smoke trail.. Turns out I just toasted my transmission AGAIN. I barley made it home. It was puking transfluid like a drunk chick.

Pulled in the drive way about to throw it into park and KABLEWWWEYYY something blew and sprayed fluid everywhere, i hosed it down and examined my trans from what I could see and its completely fucked. It makes a knocking noise so I know its gone. Damn automatics.


So that gives me problems now. 1) i cant make the cruise/bbq. I might hitch a ride with my girl.. 2). It puts a damper on my flightschool because the money I was going to use to finish up now has to go towards the car. FUCKKKK


Alright so I got 2 options, 1) sell the car as is and just say fuck it. 2) 5sp swap it. I got a few parts for the 5sp swap but nothing near what I actually need. However I figure if I am buying a complete car why not buy something better?

A) something euro, V8 maybe from a XKR or inline 6 from a BMW.
B) V8, complete my wet dream of a LSx
C) B5 S4 swap

either way I will be getting a complete car, my budget is 2500-2800.

Yea i knew it was only a matter of time. Thinking about getting a BMW this time.. I got a max budget of 3500 and will be purchasing something in June. Anything is in my car list.. i need some ideas, I was torn between the e30 BMW or possibly a 240sx again, might be even OG and get a p71 crown vic lols.

As far as the audi goes.. as it sits now I prolly wont be able to get much for it. I might just end up parting it out and getting extra funds as well. I dont feel like spending the 3500 on that car just to have something else go wrong.

BUMP, so I have been sitting here missing my baby, I feel so bad for parting it out haha.

So I have decided, once I get the engine sold and the last of the drivetrain, im going to be dropping a 2006 S4 drivetrain in there. I am going to see if I can snatch up a wrecked one somewhere around the southern states. Thats the 4.2L V8 339HP/302ft-lbs, with its 6sp trans. Then I will be shooting for carbon fiber hood/fenders, and a RS4 bumper. I plan on supercharging it, and leaving the interior stripped. I am going to fab up a roll-cage, and measure for some recaro/bride seats

Its going to be a while before I even start collecting parts but thats the deal. I cant get rid of it. So may as well just start building it right? :D

The target HP goal is 450hp/400awhp area. RELIABLE HP.

I will start off with the engine stuff. Not sure if I want to stroke it to a 2.0+ or keep 1.8. The AEB engine is by far one of the better beasts that Audi has engineered arguably the best 1.8T ever made. With the free flowing head and strong bottom end (20mm wristpin) with forged internals. In 2000 this free flowing head was replaced with a small port head but kept the strong bottom end until it was replaced in 2001 by the weaker bottom end. Which is what I had on the other A4 the 2001.5 had the crap AWM that was limited to a bunch of bs. blah blah blah

I know audi uses a different system.

Audi uses a torsen diff. Alot of people think it will mess up the diffs and the center diff which totally depends on the tires having the same rotational diameter. Read more about the quattro generation IV here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quattro_(four_wheel_drive_system)

As long as the tire sizes overall diameter is the same or very close it wont matter about width. Therefore its perfectly fine, unless the tires in front are 5% taller/smaller than the rears. Its mainly for looks, I will be loosing a bit of handling but I dont plan on tracking the car every weekend. lol
