Sup guys its good old RXXXII here... just letting you know that I'm glad Street706 and AEP has got this somewhat partnership going. It's good for the scene.
For all the old street706 haters or noobs that don't even know street706 existed, I would like to invite you to join the STREET706 site also. Street706 use to be a forum just like aep, and a lot of members were split between the sites. There never really was a mutual liking for some reason. In any case... I've grown tired of forums seeing as I'm on various forum sites already including vehicle specific forums, photography forums, film making forums, etc. So maintaining street706 as a forum actually made me feel bitter about it.
What I originally wanted to create was a local site that ALL the tuners in town can join, meet, and interact with each other. I originally thought that forums was that only real way of doing that because forums were the norm.
I slowly realized that i didn't want to run another forum site, but wanted to really make street706 work. In the past few years social networking sites like myspace and facebook have been booming and I wondered if I can create a similar setup.
I thought... "I want a site... specifically for the local tuners... that is very similar to the ever so popular facebook. Think about it. You make a profile, Make friends, Make groups, Blog about builds, and post and comment on user status."
I searched and coded for a few weeks and voila! the new turbocharged street706.com!
check it out! please join. It will be great for the local scene.
Since it is similar to facebook all you really have to do is make a profile and maintain it. You dont have to post new threads or anything for people to find you. You can search for other members based on their skills, vehicle, mods, etc. It makes it easy to find other tuners with similar interests as you.
check it out!
ALSO... just coded into the site is the new GOOGLE search! I know most of you use GOOGLE as your main search engine, so why not be able to google straight from street706.com? well, you can! You can set street706 as your homepage and use the google search bar to do a normal search @ anytime. Instant google results. This also helps with server and software costs by just googling through the street706 site. so help us out, It would be greatly appreciated.
btw... if you were wondering why street706 has a partnered with AEP, well it's because Will asked and I loved the idea. Street706 is based more on the networking side of things. while AEP's forums keep the traditional thread style information like DIY help and such. The partnership of the 2 site helps both sites equally. So even if you don't need technical threads... you can still interact with members without posting.
Let me know what you guys think. A few of you already joined. THANK YOU!
Post up and let me know if you were a street706 hater or if you didn't even knew we existed!
