Thanks guys. I want to get a bigger turn out than last year. I can tell you it will NOT be a church show. HRC3 Columbus Chapter will be getting up some vendors and sponsors for the show to pay for all the initial costs.. I'm budgeting out about $2k for trophies, t-shirts, printing costs, and tents for registration booths. The spectators and competitors will have separate entrance areas like last year, and, like last year, we will be donating all of our proceeds to charity. If anyone knows of a church or another charity in true need of financial assistance for that time of year, please let me know. Also, if any of you are in touch with any local businesses, I could really use your help in getting vendors and sponsors. I'm working on vendor/sponsor packages right now.

maybe alittle confused on the title. 2nd annual. if you don't have it this year then how it is annual. just a thought.
1 question is if you have a date. how do you know you will be able to find a suitable location for the show on that date. would it not be easier to find a location that will suite your needs and then work with them on the date.

Jason, with all due respect man, I can set a date because I know there is going to be a show. I know we'll find a location. It can be called "2nd Annual" because it is going to be an "annual" show, and was going to be from the beginning, that's held on an "annual" basis, with the first of the "annual" shows being held this past year in May 2010. The 2nd of the "annual" shows is held in June 2011. Therefor it's a "2nd annual" show.
As far as the date before the location, our chapter has to agree exactly what date we want to hold this show. We decided we will have the show on June 11th, 2011. I've seen many a show decide to be held on a date without having a location locked down. Our event coordinator is actually in the process of finding a spot to hold the show.
AS I STATED EARLIER... once location and time is locked in we will post up here. There WILL BE a show on June 11th, 2011 and it will be an EVENING show.
FYI, when I use all caps, I'm stressing the words, not yelling. I'm in no way offended nor am I posting "angrily".

I guess I miss read your first post. I was under assumption that tba means you didn't have a location. I also didn't realize there was a show held in may this year. how did it do?

It went quite well actually. We had 46 cars between show and sound off.
Okay here is a rough sketch on the classing structure. Let me know what you guys think and if this would look like something you'd wanna come to.

Everything below "Import" will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies. We're tracking that 1st place trophies will be somewhere around 44 inches tall. 2nd place will be about 28 inches, and 3rd will be about 12 inches

Honestly there aren't enough domestics to split up. The fact that we have a class is enough.

That's what I was thinking honestly. There are usually more foreigns than domestics. I need a classic class, so I might break Domestic down like this
Domestic
-Tuner
-Classic
-Muscle

that sounds about right
we're contemplating an "Under Construction" Class which will feature a "Best Project" award. It'll be like a plaque or something like that. Something tangible to attract the most possible registrants.

zach only to those who drive euros dont like to classify themselves as imports...they are technically imports they arent made in america and are imported to the states...i do see what you are sayin but you should have said that import is more stereo typed as japanese :) just my 2 cents

Yep. I was fortunate enough to talk to the woman that handles the booking of the event and she was so enthused about the idea of a Christian car club putting on a non-traditional Christian car show that she's giving us the venue at a really nice discount. Ours will be an evening show though. That way it won't be so friggin hot!

oh yeah. Plenty of room for parking for both spectators and competitors. I'd say there's enough room to park roughly about 500 cars for the show... but I'm not counting on more than about 100 honestly. Even still, there will be stuff for the family too. I'm bringing in those blow up things for kids, nice clean music without the cursing and all. It's going to be a very non-traditional Christian car show. The clubs with models are being asked as a courtesy only to have their models dress modestly. Food, drinks, nice cars... should prove to be a wonderful day.

car show without loud rap music and scantly clad skanks? doesnt sound like much of a show to me
I might be in a position at that point to help sponsor the show, so keep me in mind when the time rolls around

enjoy the freedom of the scene. you will notice you are much happier. and you still spread your message. don't need a group to do it.
I'm contemplating on starting a club. Haven't decided yet. It won't be a Christian club, but rather a club christians and non-believers can be a part of and be comfortable around each other. I think the church nowadays is too inward focused. A lot of people hear "christian" in something and immediately think it's something they have to say "praise God" all the time. No, if I start something it will be secular, but those who are christian will be very comfortable. I'm praying about it fervently. We'll see where it leads me.

I would personally hold off on the club thing. there are to many "clubs" in town and you don't want to add to it. what is going to set your apart from the rest. besides the name.
Jason, I understand where you're coming from man. I haven't decided totally to do this yet. But let me ask you this... What am I "adding" to if one club is going away and another one is taking it's place?
jasonball
12-22-2010, 10:19 AM
1 the over all coming and goins of clubs. 2. one club fall apart that everyone saw you were the leader of and then you want to start another right away. they see no preperation time. 3 I don't think holy rollers was really a big part the auto scene in columbus.
Jason you make some valid points brother. I don't completely agree. When this club drops on the scene (if I decide to do it), it will have website, email, banners, shirts, hats and other apparel, bylaws, so I don't see how there won't appear to be any preparation time, but I'll definitely take what you're saying into consideration. =)

I think you missed one question. what is going to set your club arpart from the rest of the clubs in town. and most have what youare planning website/ by-laws( lol), banners , shirts ect.
Jason I'm not focusing on trying to break the mold. I don't know if that answers your question. I want to create an environment that non-believers don't feel intimidated or threatened by, but believers can still grow in. We will do bible studies, community outreach projects, and other activities that are reminiscent of a christian club, but people won't be made to be Christian in order to join. I'm creating a positive environment in which people who have differences have a neutral playing field to interact and resolve their conflicts. Like most clubs, we'll have a zero tolerance to drama, but people won't be kicked/suspended/any other administrative action as long as they are willing to come together to resolve their differences. Heck, half the fights that start in a club are because of some misunderstanding and breakdown in communication anyway. This will not be a "show" club, though we will roll out to shows and support them so long as they are legit. Everyone needs a group they can be welcomed in, able to be themselves, and not feel judged or pressured to conform to some mold. There will be rules and regulations to follow, but those rules and regs won't force people to change their entire lifestyle. I want true family atmosphere in club events/gatherings in which children are not exposed to profanity, drugs, sex, and all other matter of things children should not be forced to deal with.
I apologize if that doesn't answer your question. Maybe you'll need to break it down further (I can be dense at times) so I can understand.

Which ever got disbaned
I was the chapter president of Columbus HRC3. the chapter, along with many others, is getting folded back into a region. Holy Rollerz is restructuring to become more ministry minded than club minded. Chapters with less than 10 regular participating members are being folded into regions... what kind of regions remains to be seen.
